This page will inform you on
what to do before calling our office.
- Knocked Out Tooth
- Toothache
- Broken Tooth
- Tongue or lip bite
- Something is caught between my teeth
1) Knocked Out Tooth:
- Hold it by the crown, not the root.
- Rinse off the root if it's dirty. Do not scrub it or remove
any attached tissue fragments.
- Put the tooth back in its socket. If that isn't possible,
put it in a container with milk or water and then call Dr Cal Harrison
as soon as possible.
Time is of the essence when it comes to saving teeth....
The American Dental Association says getting to the dentist
within 30 minutes can make a difference between saving or losing
a tooth.
2) Toothache:
- Rinse the mouth with warm water to clean it out.
- Make sure food or other foreign objects are not lodged
around the tooth by using dental floss.
- Do not put any over the counter temporary filling materials
in or around the tooth.
- Do not place aspirin or any other medication on or around
the tooth.
- Call Dr Cal Harrison
3) Broken Tooth:
- Rinse mouth with warm water to keep the area clean.
- Use cold compresses on the area to keep the swelling down.
- Call Dr Cal Harrison
4) Tongue or lip bite:
- Clean the area gently with a cloth.
- Apply cold compresses to reduce the swelling.
- If the bleeding doesn't stop, go to a hospital emergency
room immediately.
5) Something is caught between my teeth:
- Try to gently remove the object with dental floss and
avoid cutting the gums.
- Do not use a sharp instrument.
- If you're not successful in removing the object give us
a call.
